Former Ghana under-23 star, David Opoku on Saturday, September 1, 2018, outdoored a new fitness centre called 11 Fitness and Gym Centre.

Located on the Kaneshie-Kasoa highway, the newly built facility is stocked with the latest training and gym gadgets that any first-class gym could boast of.

The fitness and gym centre with its equipment and well-trained fitness instructors is expected to be the preferred gym and fitness centre for people in Weija Broadcasting and its environs.

An aerobic session and free screening exercise conducted to commission the facility saw hundreds of Ghanaians turn up to exercise and also know their health status.

Speaking to journalists during the unveiling, high-life musician Kwabena Kwabena who took part in the aerobic exercise commended the footballer for setting up the gym and encouraged other footballers to give back to society.

“David is a friend so I’m here to support him. What we do has some age limit so there comes a time when you need to invest in other areas and I think this is wonderful for David. Exercise is everything to me because it keeps you fit, keeps you younger and makes you look good. I expect him to open more. This is great and I want to encourage all the other footballers to open more fitness centres and open more businesses”, he said.

David Opoku explained that the motive behind the setting up of the fitness centre was his way of giving back to the society. He emphasized the importance of exercise and good health and encouraged people to patronize the centre.

“It’s me giving back to the society. I grew up here and its good to give back to the society so I thought of it and it's looking really good. People turned up today and I’m happy with what is happening right now. Being the footballer that I am I have a stuffed this place with a lot of things that makes it distinct from others, physiotherapy, massage, aerobic sessions. Everything looks really nice and I feel like I’m adding more spice to it. I have a lot of people showing up every Saturday as you saw and it looks really different. Mine is different because it's more like a family fitness centre", he said.
