Decathlon supports Astros Football Academy to raise funds

French sportswear powerhouse, Decathlon has joined Astros Football Academy to raise funds in support of the academy to run its activities smoothly.

The convivial event that happened at the plush Lord of the Wings restaurant in Accra saw football items provided by Decathlon and autographed by Ghanaian football icon Abedi Pele auctioned with the first jersey going for 1,500 cedis.

Raffles were also conducted with patrons winning various prizes including footballs,boots, drinking bottles, jerseys among other things.

Established five years ago, Astro Football Club has made remarkable strides and the founder and CEO Wessam Moussallem did not hold back her words of gratitude to the various people who have played diverse role in keeping the Academy aloft.

The staunch football fanatic who prefers to be called "Ekua" amidst tears expressed her profound gratitude to the various stakeholders who have been of immense help to the academy and promised her undivided commitment and willingness to ensure that the academy churns out great talents for the country



Setting high her ambitions, the business magnate expressed the hope that the academy will grow in the coming years to compete with the world's renowned talent developing hubs.

"I want to thank everyone who has made it possible for Astro Football Academy to reach this far. I'm really grateful. The idea behind Astro is to give opportunities to talented kids who don't have connections to reach the top. We've been doing this for five years and my aim is to take Astro everywhere and make it compete with world class football academies"

The country manager of Decathlon Ghana, Kwasi Taburi disclosed to pressmen that the sports merchandising firm is committed to the development of sports and are willing to partner any sports company since that resonate with the objectives of the his company



He opined that the main target for his company is sports for all people and are willing to support any sporting discipline that will be in need of their services. He also lauded the efforts Astro Football Academy for helping young gifted footballers in the country.

"Decathlon is a sports company so we are ready to help anything linked with sports. What Astro is doing is amazing and goes in conformity with the mission of Decathlon which is sports for all people. We are not just a football firm, we are opened to other sports disciplines and are willing to help develop Sports".
