Andre Dede Ayew is disappointed with the decision to exclude his brother Jordan from the provisional 26-man squad for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The 20-year-old was a surprised omission from the squad announced by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah last week.

Jordan has been on cloud nine for Marseille this season where he has netted 8 goals in all competitions.

The decision to axe the promising youngster has been hugely condemned by a section of the Ghanaian media, with critics arguing that his performance surpasses some of the strikers who have been included in the set-up.

Marseille’s former boss Didier Deschamps is reported to have expressed shock at the turn of event and Andre believes his junior brother has done more than enough to justify his place in the team.

“I spoke with Deschamps and he believes it about playing football then we all think Jordan should have been in the squad,” Ayew said.

“I am not defending him because he’s my brother. Didier Deschamps feels the same because he knows his qualities.” the player added.

The two brothers have combined effectively in the French Lique 1 this season with Marseille in hunt for the title.
