Ghana international Andre Ayew’s week is set to get worse on Saturday evening when Swansea City caretaker boss Alan Curtis takes his side to the Etihad Stadium.

Ayew and his side have not won a top-flight game in 12 matches and the odds are not looking good going into the game against Manuel Pelligrini’s side. Manchester City have had somehow an on and off season with respect to winning some games but the Etihad outfit showed some real grit in midweek as they topped their group in the UEFA Champions League with a sterling performance [no pun intended].

The form they bring into the game might be too much for a Swansea City side who currently have their players low on confidence.

2015 BBC African Footballer of the Year

We’ve all been there. Genuinely and politely Andre Ayew will congratulate Yaya Toure for being named the 2015 BBC African Footballer of the Year. That is however not to mean he didn’t want it. Or that he wouldn’t wish he was on the receiving end of the congratulations messages.

But it’s one of those things. It will pain. But when the pain is directed through positive channels, Andre Ayew could come back stronger with hard work to win his next time round.

For now, it has been a bad week in terms of missing out.

The sack

Andre Ayew this week has also seen the manager who brought him to Swansea City leave the club after a series of bad results.

Gary Monk cherished Andre Ayew. Starting the Ghanaian in almost every game, he was fit to play in shows the trust and faith a manager has in a player. But that relationship is no more as the Black Stars vice-captain waits to see who takes over the Swansea City job permanently.

It could be another man Andre Ayew has a great relationship with; Black Stars coach Avram Grant.

But for now, Andre Ayew has lost a great manager, an advisor and a trusted friend.

The week has not been good. But wait, it could get worst against Manchester City. Yaya Toure plays for Manchester City.
