Former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Kwabena Bekoe is urging home-based footballers to hit the streets in protest against the Normalization Committee (NC), over the absence of a domestic competition which is affecting them directly.

Bekoe, who appears unhappy with the heat on the Black Stars B for their inability to defend the WAFU Zone B Cup in Senegal on Sunday wants his former playmates to register their displeasure over the state of domestic football.

Bekoe has applauded the Black Stars B for their performance claiming the side has done extremely well by getting to the finals despite the absence of a domestic competition.

He however wants the players to register their anger at authorities over the development since they are the key actors of the football industry.

“Local Ghanaian footballers must wake up and fight so that we go on demonstration against the N.C or whoever is keeping the league hanging,” he said.

“We don’t have any work apart from football. Ghanaian fans don’t expect anything apart from victory but will not think about where the failure is coming from.

“I’m sad for local Ghanaian footballers today. Even Roberto Baggio missed a penalty,” he fired back at critics of the team.

Head coach Maxwell Konadu was forced to assemble a team based on the performance of players in friendly games since domestic football has been off for the past 16 months following the Anas Exposé, with players from AshGold and Kotoko being the only ones with a competition.

Ghana failed to defend their title for the third time after winning it in 2013 and 2017 after losing on penalties to Senegal in the final.
