Depleted WAFA halt Great Olympics revival

A depleted West Africa Football Academy side halted Great Olympics resurgence at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday on match day 7.

Forson Amankwah teed off Eric Asamany who dribbled two Great Olympics defenders to slot home the only goal and the winner on the 25th minutes.

Great Olympics looked purposeful in the second half but their pressure could not yield the desired result as WAFA held on to pick all three points in Accra.

WAFA had lost their first game in 5 years to Liberty Professionals in 2-1 score line at Sogakope on match day 6.

The Academy boys had the the chance to double the lead on the 27th minute when Eric Asamany was laid with a pass but he fired over the post for a goal kick.

Great Olympics nearly drew level on the 76th minute when Sulley Ibrahim fired a shot but was parried by WAFA goalkeeper,Ferdinand Sabi for a corner kick.

Great Olympics piled incessant pressure on the young WAFA side but failed to find the back of the net.

The defeat will send Great Olympics back to the drawing board to re-strategize for the subsequent games.
