Captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has described comments attributed to the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, on the new bonus of the Black Stars as “unfair”.

Oppong Asamoah is reported to have said the ministry can only afford 5,000 dollars as winning bonus for the Black Stars, and it was up to the players to accept it or leave it.

Gyan said though he did not hear the comments, he was of the opinion that, it was an unfair comment since Ghana was not a military state. The Black Stars captain said in an interview with Kwabena Yeboah on Sports Highlight on Monday evening.

“We are in a democratic state and we all have our rights. For him to say that we should take it or leave was an unfair comment.

“We are all trying to do our best for the nation, and I don't think it was the right thing to say,” he added.

Gyan, however denied having any meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports but noted that, some members of the playing body have met with officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

He indicated that, they were yet to arrive at any decision with the GFA on the bonus and other related issues regarding the Black Stars.

Gyan urged Ghanaians to pray for the Black Stars so they will remain fit for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
