Players of Accra Hearts of Oak have earned the praise of coach Edward Odoom after their spirited comeback against Liberty Professionals on Sunday.
The Phobians once again lived up to the true meaning of their ‘until the bones are rotten’ creed as they fought back to get three points against Liberty who fetched the lead in the first minute of the GPL Week 5 encounter.
Two strikes in the dying embers of the game gave Hearts all three points against the ‘Scientific Soccer Lads’.
Former Liberty boy Richard Arthur levelled the scoring for Hearts before Kofi Kordzi sealed a late victory for Hearts.
Speaking after the game, Coach Odoom praise the mental strength of his players.
“We are a work in progress at the moment and the players are showing determination, good character and the will to win.
In terms of the tactics we used to win today’s match, we went with something similar to what we did at WAFA. We defended deeply but we decided to edge a counter-attacking threat to us and on play on the break.”
Next up for Hearts of Oak is a game against sworn-rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko
