Reigning WBO Super Bantamweight Champion of the World, Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe says naturally his first priority following his conquest of Jessie Magdaleno is to successfully defend the title he won some three weeks ago and then go on to unify his weight division for a few more years before moving up in weight.

However, the 23 year old hopes that his next three or four fights will help him and his management team clear the backlog of debts that have been accrued all in the pursuit of his boxing dream.

Speaking to Ghanaweb TV in an exclusive interview, Dogboe said “It has been a long road to get here. A lot of sacrifices especially from my father who has literally had to empty his bank account and life savings to help me get here. The plan now is that after my next three or four fights, I can pay off most or all of my debt and then I can fully focus on the next phase of my career without much stress.”

Last month, Isaac Dogboe became Ghana's youngest ever boxing champion after knocking out Jessie Magdaleno in Philadelphia on April 29, making him the new WBO super bantamweight/junior featherweight titleholder.

In that fight, Dogboe recovered well from a first round knockdown to produce an outstanding performance to beat the title holder in front of a very hostile crowd.

Meanwhile, Dogboe who was recently crowned Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Sports Personality of the Year, says he expects to be back in the ring to defend his world Boxing Organisation (WBO) super bantamweight title in two months’ time against a yet-to-be-named opponent and was looking forward to dominating the division in a bid to help restore Ghana’s glory in international boxing.

After being honoured with the SWAG topmost award last Friday, the 23-year old boxer said he hopes to be busy after being signed on by America’s premier boxing promotions, Top Tank, owned by Bob Arum.
