Featherweight boxing prospect, Isaac Dogboe, improved to nine wins on Friday night as he stopped Aminu Turkson in a featherweight contest.

Dogboe, a former member of Ghana’s amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers who takes inspiration from Ghana’s longest reigning boxing champion, Azumah Nelson stopped Turkson in the sixth round.

The win sets the stage for his November showdown with George Krampah for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa featherweight championship.

His father and trainer, Paul Dogboe said it was a great debut in Ghana for his ward whose first seven bouts were staged in Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The one against Turkson was his first and he won in an amazing fashion, he said.

Dogboe knocked Turkson twice in the first round having bombarded the experienced boxer with hefty punches but survived the round.

Turkson’s troubles continued in the second when he crushed to the canvass again midway through the round but survived again and upped his game from the third where he attempted to match his opponent power.

But that strategy weighed him down and gave way in the sixth round when he gave it up.
