Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas - BoxingScene.com has been advised that promoter Don King, who handles the career of bantamweight Joseph Agbeko, is planning to file immediate protests with the IBF, and the state of Nevada, over his boxer's majority decision loss to Abner Mares on Saturday night. Mares won with scores of 115-111, 115-111 and 113-113.
King is going to protest the officiating by referee Russell Mora, who issued two controversial knockdown calls in favor of Mares. The initial call happened in the first after Agbeko slipped and another call in the eleventh after Agbeko went down from a low blow. There were numerous low blows landed by Mares in the fight. King felt the referee should have taken points away from Mares.
King is going to ask the Nevada State Athletic Commission to take action against Mora and he plans to push the IBF to order an immediate rematch between the two fighters.
