Coach Sellas Tetteh has warned against comparisons being drawn between his current Ghana U20 side and that of his world-conquering 2009 crop.

The Black Satellites are gearing towards the final phase of their preparations ahead of their ultimate qualifier for next year’s African Youth Championships against Gabon.

Tetteh was the man at the helm when Ghana famously won all competitions they entered including the World Cup at the U-20 level in 2009.

That crop also produced several players who have eventually found their way to become integral members of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.

Many Ghanaians are of the hope that the current crop will hit the same heights as the iconic 2009 team but Tetteh is quick to beat down such expectations.

“We need to be patient with this team, it is too early to compare,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“We have just played two or three games so comparing even is unfair.

“The team has not yet qualified for the African Cup so it is too early to compare them to the 2009 team.”

The Ghana U20 side will be hosting the first leg of their ultimate African Cup qualifier against Gabon on August 17.
