The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has told clubs in the country not to return to training until the government lifts the ban on public gathering.
The government last month announced that it is placing a ban on public gathering as a precautionary measure against the spread of the deadly Coronavirus (Covid-19) disease.
In line with that, the Ghana FA through a statement disclosed that it is suspending the 2019/2020 football season until further notice.
From that time till date, clubs in the Ghana Premier League, the Division One League, and the Women’s Premier League have broken camp and have not been training since.
Last night, the President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo lifted his ban on partial restrictions in Kumasi, Accra, Tema, and parts of Accra.
In a communique from the GFA, it has informed clubs that that does not means they have been given the clear to resume training.
“Football clubs are advised to strictly comply with the ban on gathering and sporting activities and are therefore reminded that group training is still not allowed until the ban on social gathering is lifted by the state”, the statement on the official website of the GFA said.
Clubs are to desist from training until the ban on public gathering is lifted by the government.
