Ghana U-20 midfielder Godfred Donsah has urged all Ghanaians to rally behind the team as they eye a second title at the Fifa U-20 World Cup set for kick off in New Zealand on Saturday.

The 18-year-old had an inspiring season in the Serie A, appearing 34 times and scoring two goals with his side Cagliari, who happened to have dropped into the relegation zone.

Donsah joined the Black Satellites camp in Wellington last weekend following the end of the Italian topflight and appears to be upbeat ahead of their opener against Austria on Saturday.

“It is a privilege and dream come true to play for Ghana. God bless everyone who has supported me in my football career and they should continue praying for us as this is our way to success,” Donsah told Goal.

“My expectation is to get as far as possible with Ghana in the tournament but we’d take it match after match as every opponent at this stage is a threat.”

Donsah’s agent has confirmed interest from Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs, however, the player says the transfer market will decide his next move.

“It was a great season for me but we (Cagliari) have been relegated that makes it very sad. I don't really know my next move as I’m still under contract, so the transfer market will decide.

“As far as football is concerned I'd be happy to play for any club which gives me the opportunity,” he said.

Donsah, who has been tagged as the new "Michael Essien" due to his style of play, has had stints at Palermo and Hellas Verona.
