Medical officer of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Dr. Prince Pambo describes calls for football resumption in Ghana at the moment as irresponsible.

Dr. Pambo says those calls for football to resume should not be entertained with regards for the safety of players and human lives.

All football activities in Ghana has been suspended in light of the rapid spread of the Coronavirus outbreak since March 2020.

With some countries taking steps to resume their football competitions, the Ghana Football Association are being pressurised to decide the fate of the Ghana Premier League and others.

Germany resumed football activities on the weekend, Turkey, Denmark, Hungary, Spain, Italy and others have set dates for the resumption of their respective leagues.

The Ghana FA has set 30 June to decide whether to cancel or resume the 2019/2020 season.

Before then, Dr. Pambo has lambasted football administrators who are piling pressure on the Ghana FA to resume the suspended competitions.

"It is more than irresponsible for anybody to force to start it (football in Ghana) when there isn’t 100% safety." he said on Adom FM

"It is only the Ghana Health Service who can determine when certain activities like churches and others can resume before we even think about restarting our game."

"That is why some of us suggested that we cancel everything and prepare for a fresh start at a later date when situations normalize."

"Some club administrators are pushing for football to come back but it will not be proper to risk human lives when 100% safety cannot be guaranteed."

Ghana's confirmed cases of the Coronavirus as of Tuesday 19 May 2020 is at 5,918 with 31 deaths.
