Dreams FC recorded their fourth win in eight games as they defeated Liberty Professionals by one goal to nothing at the Sogakope Park on Thursday afternoon in a Ghana Premier League fixture.
Striker Zuberu Sharani who is gradually establishing himself as Dreams FC’s potent man upfront netted with a screamer outside the penalty box in the 29th minute after a perfect piece of excellent work by skipper Leonard Owusu and Eric Gawu.
Liberty Professionals who were playing at home started the game well and created numerous chances before the 15th-minute mark but their attackers involving Bright Andoh and Isaac Amoako proved to be profligate as they missed glaring chances.
Dreams FC gradually warmed themselves into the game by taking control of the midfield where George Dwubeng, Patrick Arthur, and skipper Leonard Owusu were at their usual best.
The first major chance for the away side resulted in a goal as Patrick Arthur started the move deep in midfield before Skipper Leonard back-heeled a stupendous ball to Eric Gawu who made no mistake by laying it for Zuberu Sharani to hit a thunderbolt from the edge of the box to give Dreams FC the lead in the 29th minute.
Prosper Avor threatened with some Visionary play but the Dreams FC back four stood resolutely with the central defensive pair of Massawudu Abdallah and Issah Yakubu thwarting most of his efforts.
Liberty ended the first half having 51 percent of possession though they were down by a lone goal.
The second half saw Dreams FC stepping up their game with some good interpositional play laced with cohesion to the delight of the fans at the Sogakope Park.
Dreams FC Manager Karim Zito brought on youngster Benjamin Ayim for Kwadwo Asamoah in the 73rd and it yielded dividends as the left-footed midfielder broke loose on the left and found Zuberu Sharani with a fantastic cross in the penalty box. The attacker who could have gotten his second on the day with a one-time shot decided to dribble and Liberty cleared their lines.
Ayim who was looking lively on the left flank broke loose and dribbled two Liberty Professionals players in a counter-attack but he was whacked down by Elvis Kyei-Baffour and the referee handed the Liberty Professionals midfielder a yellow card in the 77th minute.
Kyei-Baffour was sent off three minutes later for a second bookable offense as he raised his foot high and stamped Issah Yakubu in an aerial duel in the 80th minute.
Dreams FC manager Karim Zito brought on Abdul Mugeez for Zuberu Sharani in the 80th minute but Liberty Professionals were able to marshall their defense well until the referee blew his whistle for the end of the game.
The skipper of Dreams FC, Leonard Owusu was adjudged the official NASCO man of the match.
