Former Black Stars forward, Charles Taylor, has stated that the exclusion of Andre Dede Ayew, who is in good form, from Ghana's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, is disrespectful.

Taylor claims that Ayew, being in good form and also the captain of the team, should have earned him a place in the squad, adding that Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has treated the player unfairly.

The Ghana Premier League legend stated that if a player's current form is the criterion for inviting players for the national team, Ayew should not have been excluded.

"They did not show him respect. My reason is that he was named in the AFCON squad while he was at home. Today, he is one of the most in-form players in Europe, and if form is the only metric to play for the Black Stars, then Dede deserves to be in the squad. Moreover, he is the captain and deserves some respect.

"Otto Addo wasn't fair to Dede Ayew. If you are calling players based on form, then he needs to be there. To me, it's not fair to leave out Dede Ayew from the squad," he said on Angel TV.

Andre Ayew ended the season as Le Havre's top scorer in the French Ligue 1 with five goals.

His goals inspired his side to escape relegation, finishing just three points above the drop zone.
