Barbaric acts keeps engulfing our game as an alleged drunk policeman shoots two club officials during the Division One league clash between Tamale Utrecht and Berlin FC.
Head coach of the home side Tamale Utrecht was shot in the leg while an unnamed club official also suffered a head shot.
Reports emerged after the game that the policeman whose name was not given, was completely drunk during the game and fired rubber bullets when fans showed signs of dissatisfaction at the performance of the match officials.
Speaking on Asempa FM on Thursday morning, Tamale Utrecht coach Osman Alhassan who suffered the leg shot, revealed that the policeman was drunk compelling him to fire the gun without any provocation.
“I understand that after matches when a referee’s performance is not the best, fans will surely show their dissatisfaction. But we controlled them,” he said.
“Shockingly, the policeman who was brought there to enforce peace fired the gun. The gun hit me in the leg and another person in the head. Thank God they were rubber bullets.
“When we were being treated, I realized the policeman was fully drunk,” he added.
GHANAsoccernet.com spoke to Kojo Owuwu Marfo, a public servant in Tamale who was a witness to the incident and he confirmed that the policeman was drunk.
“I can confirm the act. It is true the policeman was drunk. We are those who shielded him from the fans after he shot the two.
“Approaching him alone was enough to tell you the man was drunk. While we were whisking him away, the way he was talking also showed.
“I was sad and I think authorities must do something about that,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com
