Dwarfs beat Vipers in special 'Afahye' match

Cape Coast, Sept. 7, GNA - Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday pipped their local rivals, Venomous Vipers 1-0 to lift the 'Afahye' Cup in a special soccer match to climax activities marking the 'Fetu Afahye' of the Chiefs and people of the Oguaa Traditional Area.

After referee Ali Musah Plato had signalled the two sides into action it was Dwarfs who started the match on a serious note and scored the match winner in the 20th minute through mid-fielder Ekow Aikins. Vipers showed their determination to equalize as they out-played Dwarfs in the second half and made several efforts to cancel the debt but the able defence of Dwarfs kept them at bay till the final whistle.

The Oguaahene, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, presented the trophy to Ebusua Dwarfs amid jubilation by both the playing body and supporters of the Club. He commended the two Clubs on their show of sportsmanship during the match and asked them to keep it up and advised them to take their training seriously to enable them qualify for the elite division.

MTN Ghana, a telecommunications company, sponsored the match and donated the Cup for the match which was also watched by Mr Anthony Egyir Aikins, the Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive among other dignitaries and sub-chiefs.
