Ecobank golf records high numbers

The Achimota Golf Club on Saturday recorded massive turn out in this year's Ecobank golf cup tournament.

The stableford competition entered into the club's history as one of the well-attended events in recently as 131 golfers compete for honours.

Managing Director of Ecobank, Morgan Asiedu, underscored the importance of sports hence the sponsorship saying "... We believe organizing this tournament for the benefit of our clients will enhance their lives, promote network and ultimately grow their businesses. We are excited about the massive participation we have witnessed at this tournament.

"Sports is critical to good health and good health is priceless and it is a catalyst for long life, peace and success in business."

It was Frank Avorsey, who stole the show after recording a 43 stableford points to reign in the men's category, while Mark tweneboah, Sampson Assorgbah, Kokonsa Ansah, Paul Ondiwa, Eric Sowah Oddoye and Barry Dzadey followed in second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.

Achimota's Jessica Tei picked the ladies ultimate prize after a 39 stableford points score with Christine furler coming in second place with 38 stableford points.

Royal golf club's Constance Awuni, Elizabeth Aku Yabbah and Vivian dick followed in that order.

The longest drive prize went to Barry Dzadey and Jessica in the men's and women's category respectively.

Dzadey again won the closest to the pin prize, while Rainer Asiama won the female category.

The pan African bank donated 10,000 cedis to the club for its upkeep.
