Zamalek president Hisham Nasr has confirmed that the club is in talks to sign Real Madrid legend and Spanish football icon Sergio Ramos.
Nasr noted that the player is interested in the transfer and has agreed to speak to the Egyptian side.
Speaking with an Arabian channel, On Time Sports, the Zamalek President, however, said the deal could fall through due to financial demands and therefore pleaded for assistance from local companies, citing Saudi Arabia as an example in that regard.
“Sergio Ramos has agreed to speak to us through his reps, and the negotiations are still open. For now, the whole idea is to manage the money, and this issue needs courage and support from businessmen to finance the deal and invest in it, like we all saw what happened when Ronaldo went to Saudi Arabia.
There was a plan, and Al-Nasr sold a lot of his jerseys within the shortest time. We can do the same too,” he said.
Sergio Ramos is currently a free agent after spending the 2023/2024 season at his boyhood club Sevilla.
The 38-year-old believes he still has some football left in him despite retiring from international football two years ago.
