Accra-based El-Wak Keep Fit Club last Saturday awarded ace walker Vincent Asumang, with a certificate of honour for his contribution to walking over the years.
Presenting the certificate, the club?s chairman Mr. Albert Helegbe noted that Asumang assisted the club technically, sponsorship-wise and in diverse ways last year. He expressed the club?s appreciation to the ace walker for taking time off his busy schedule, to share very valuable moments with them and called for God?s guidance for him.
In an interview with the recipient, Asumang said he was elated and that the award will spur him on to more laurels. Her cautioned institutions especially the Ministry of Health to adopt the allowable conditions that binds on Walking as a sport internationally, so as to avoid disaster in the future.
Asumang complained about the often-allowed practice where beginning walkers walk up to 10 km minus water or any kind of refreshment.
He observed that internationally, after every kilometer a walker is permitted to gulp down some water to replenish lost energy. " However, this practice is not adhered to here," he added. Visco Walking Club
