Electricity Corporation wins Inter-Utility Games

Accra, March 20, GNA - The Electricity Corporation of

Ghana (ECG) emerged winners of the Volta River Authority's

(VRA) 50th Anniversary Inter-Utility Games held on Saturday

at Akuse. The event, which formed part of the activities marking the

Golden Jubilee celebrations of VRA was to foster unity and

friendship amongst staffs of the company and sister utility

organizations. Hosts VRA competed with their counterparts from the

Ministry of Energy, Northern Electrification Development

(NED), Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) and the

Energy Commission in events such as football, table tennis,

volleyball, tennis, draught, Ludo, Scrabble, Musical chairs,

Oware and Tug-of-war in both male and female divisions. ECG gained 112 points, GRIDCo won 72 points, followed

by Ministry of Energy at the third position with 70 points,

VRA came fourth on 69 points, with NED and Energy

Commission in that order with 13 and 12 points respectively. Dr Joe Oteng-Adjei, Minister of Energy urged staffs to give

off their best to realize their prime objective goal of generating

and supplying power throughout the country. He advised them to use the sporting events to create

conducive atmosphere and relationship with their clients and

communities for them to appreciate their role and functions in

efficient delivery of utilities. Mrs Getrude Koomson, Head of Public Relations, VRA

said the Games was to enhance the working relationship

between the organisations, since they are working towards the

same goal. The ECG team received a trophy whilst winners in the

various events were presented with plaques.
