Elvis Manu opened the scoring as Feyenoord drew 2-2 with Willem II in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

The Ghanaian forward has been in excellent form of late and came into this tricky away fixture on the back of a stunning performance last weekend.

However, while his brace and assist against AZ Alkmaar was enough to secure three points for the Rotterdam outfit, he was unable to ensure Feyenoord stretched their winning run to five matches and repeat the trick against Willem II.

Manu opened the scoring with a fine volley on the half-hour mark, but Feyenoord were unable to build on their lead and were pegged back when Freek Heerkens knocked the ball past Kenneth Vermeer during a set-piece scramble.

The Club on the Meuse then fell behind on 74 minutes when Bruno Andrade capitalised on an error from Netherlands defender Terence Kongolo to give the home side a 2-1 lead in front of over 14,000 fans.

However, there was to be a final twist and Colin Kazim-Richards struck late to ensure a point for the visitors.

While Fred Rutten’s outfit may have been relieved to have secured a draw after falling behind with 15 minutes to play, they will surely have been targeting a victory as they bid to finish inside the top two in the Eredivisie.

A draw means they remain in third, having picked up 58 points from 30 matches. They sit eight points behind Ajax and must now be resigned to the fact that they will miss out on a return to the Champions League.

Manu started on the left-side of Rutten’s 4-3-3 formation and was part of an enterprising and exciting front line. His goal was his seventh in 13 starts so far this season.

He completed two dribbles in the match, the joint-most according to WhoScored, and contributed one key pass.
