Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor has denied making negative comments about CAF and Liverpool duo Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Reports went rife that the former Arsenal striker has criticized the continent's football governing body, CAF, due to their history with corruption.

Within these comments, Adebayor took a tirade at Liverpool duo Salah and Mane, claiming that they should not be winning the CAF Player Of The Year award because they are not African based.

But the Club Olimpia striker has taken to his Twitter handle to deny making those comments.

“My attention was recently drawn to comments, shared by certain media on social networks, made on CAF and on my colleagues Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane,” Adebayor said in a statement on Twitter.

“I would just say that these statements are not mine. I have not granted any media interviews. Always be careful not to post false information.”

Salah and Mane have been on the podium for the Africa Player of the Year Award for the past three years, with the former winning the 2017 and 2018 editions while the Senegal international won the latest one.

The duo also shared the Premier League Golden Boot award last season, scoring 22 goals each, while also guiding Liverpool to three trophies, including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
