The Galaxy International School team that participated in the Owlypia Global 2024 challenge returned home on Sunday, June 24, 2024, after proudly representing their school and Ghana at the global academic event in the United Kingdom.
The competition, which featured participants from fifteen schools worldwide, included subjects such as debates, essays, and a team spirit challenge, categorized by age groups of nine to eleven years (Owlins), twelve to fourteen years (Owlets), and fifteen to eighteen years old (Owlys).
Galaxy International delivered standout performances, winning a total of fifteen medals and a giant trophy.
The students representing Galaxy International School secured three gold medals in individual competitions, one gold medal in a team event, four bronze medals in individual competitions, and four silver medals in individual events, along with a giant trophy and a special recognition award.
Speaking to the media about the performance of the 11 students representing the school, Jasur Domullojonov, the counsellor of Galaxy International School, praised the students for their inspiring academic prowess.
He stated that the school would continue to provide opportunities for its students to compete with other globally recognized schools and expose them to best practices and competitions that will prepare them for the future.
"We are very happy because this is what we do for our students. Every year, we send our students abroad to compete in these competitions, and we are consistently among the top three. This year, we are proud of our success. We are proud that we represented Ghana very well and excelled in a competition that included over 15 countries," he said.
The Principal of the School, Mr Etem Taniskan, believes that the students' performance reflects the high academic standards at Galaxy International School and that the authorities will continue to work diligently with parents to support the students.
One of the medal winners, Rashidatu Nuhu, expressed her feelings: "I feel great about my accomplishment and that of my schoolmates. The competition was tough, but we performed well to make our school and Ghana proud."
