Sportscrusader.com last Saturday reported that Tagoe will be making first defense of his IBO lightweight belt against South African Xolisani Ndogeni on August 11.

But that fight has been cancelled after Ndogeni dropped seven places from 6th to 13th position in the latest WBA ranking.

The James-Town will now be making his first defense of the IBO lightweight strap against the WBA number 5 rated boxer who won the IBF world super featherweight belt four years ago.

“Game Boy will now defend his IBO lightweight belt against WBA number 5 Argenis Mendez,” Baby Jet Promotions’ match maker Solomon Otoo told Sportscrusader.com.

“The deal has been signed and sealed. August 26, Game Boy will face Mendez.”

“Game Boy was initially scheduled to fight Xolisani Ndogeni from South African but he dropped down from 6th to 13th in the latest WBA ranking forcing the fight to be cancelled.”

Tagoe won the IBO lightweight belt when he defeated South Africa’s Mzonke Fana via unanimous decision last December in Ghana.
