Eric Bekoe For Anderlecht

KUMASI Asante Kotoko's prolific goal getter, Eric Bekoe who has been making all the headlines on the local front is in the news again with Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht reportedly on his trail. Bekoe has been linked with a host of foreign clubs for sometime now but it remains to be seen whether Kotoko will be prepared to reject this mouth watering offer from the club which has a habit of luring the best talents from Africa. Reports reaching 90 Minutes indicates that a football agent who was in the country during the just ended Ghana 2008 tournament recommended Bekoe to the Belgian club upon discussions with some football gurus in Ghana.

The reports says that Anderlecht are in the process of sending a high powered delegation to begin tentative talks with Kotoko which might lead to a transfer of the player during the summer. It will be recalled that Asante Kotoko rejected two offers from Helsingborgs in Sweden and a Turkish club believed to be Ankaragucu when they expressed interest in Bekoe. The Swedish outfit is still interested in the services of Bekoe to replace the highly rated Beninois sharpshooter Razak Omotoyossi who is being chased by a couple of Dutch and French clubs as carried elsewhere in this paper.

When Bekoe was contacted by 90 Minutes to find out if he's aware of Anderlecht's interest “It's true that I'm being chased by Anderlecht but I just want to concentrate on the local scene before I make any move in order not to rush into anything. Other teams from Germany are also interested in my services but everything is in the hands of Kotoko because I'm working for them. My brother is also taking care of those things so I'm just concentrating on my football for Kotoko. It's important to market yourself properly on the local scene before embarking on any foreign adventure. Friends even called me from London to say they watched some clips of Kotoko as the Onetouch Premiership is now telecast outside Ghana so I believe I'll take my time in order not to make any rash decision”.

Talking about last Sunday's match with Tema Youth when he was challenged by Coach “Opeele” he said “I was happy when I scored the goal that's why I ran over to him to shake his hands. But I want to take this opportunity to commend “Opeele” for making the league interesting and competitive and believe he's a fine coach”. Touching on the Black Stars, Bekoe said “Once Claude LeRoy says I'm not up to that standard, I'm waiting and doing my best till I get a call-up and when I get there I promise I won't disappoint” Bekoe added.
