Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien celebrates his 30th birthday today.
The midfielder, who was born on December 3, 1982 in Accra (Ghana), joined Real Madrid this summer on loan from Chelsea and has so far participated in 11 games.
His first goal as a Real Madrid player was in league against Zaragoza. Full international for his country, Essien is honoured to be part of the first Black Stars team that played at the World Cup in 2006.
The African player noted for his versatility, which allows him to play both in the midfield and on defence.
Essien’s qualities are well known to Mourinho, who trained him at Chelsea.
Before coming to the Premier League, the midfielder had already made a name in football elite in France, in the ranks of Bastia and Olympique Lyon. Congratulations Ess.
But there are concerns about his future following serious knee injuries which have plighted his career.
The midfield powerhouse has not been in his bulldozing form since recovering from the injuries.
