The Ethics Committee, chaired by Nana Adjei Ampofo (Chairman), has ended proceedings against Abdul Salam Yakubu, President of New Edubiase for making unethical comments against Berekum Chelsea and Eric Owusu Mensah (a Kumasi-based referee).

The President of New Edubiase was found guilty, handed a fine and banned for making allegations on an Accra-based radio station - Happy FM, accusing Berekum Chelsea F.C for using Mensah as conduit to bribing other referees involved in handling their matches.

Ethics proceedings against Abdul Salam Yakubu was opened on Tuesday 20th December, 2011 at 2:00 pm to investigate the allegation.

"At the hearing Mr. Abdul Salam Yakubu admitted making the comments and claimed he had evidence. He was given every chance to substantiate his allegation.

"The committee noticed that the allegation made against Mr. Eric Owusu Mensah and the insinuation against Berekum Chelsea was based on suspicions and without merit.

"Mr. Abdul Salam Yakubu is fined GH¢2000.00 and suspended from attending four (4) consecutive league matches for bringing the reputation of Mr. Eric Owusu Mensah and Berekum Chelsea into disrepute."
