Head Coach of the national under-17 team the Black Starlets, Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin says the team’s tour of Europe will help the team acclimatize ahead of the World Cup in India.
The Black Starlets will be leaving for Denmark later this month to continue with preparations for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup slated for India in October. Ghana will play in a four nation tournament against the likes of Spain, Mexico and Iraq.
Coach Fabin who’s side have been drawn with host India, Colombia and the United States insists they have tested their strengths with fellow African nations and team and would have to test their strengths with countries from other continents
“We have been playing under the Africa weather for over a long time and it is prudent we go out there and engage the Europeans and the South American countries to have a feel of what they will be bringing to the table during the tournament,” he told Ghana Soccer News.
“So far we have pitched our strength with both Ghanaian and some African countries. It’s time we do so against some top European countries and Clubs as well to further assess our chances at the tournament”, coach Paa Kwesi added.
Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin is bent on winning Ghana’s third world cup trophy and has explained the need for the players to get acclimatized with the different weather and time zones.
“You know that the weather is totally different there as well as the time zones, so we need to get all these things intact before the tournament starts. That is why we believe that the month long European tour will help us to achieve that.”
Ghana is returning to the global showpiece after a decade of absence.
