Everton recall Nyarko

As predicted in the article Ghanaians in Europe: Summary, Ghana international midfielder Alex Nyarko looks set to resume his controversial career at Everton next season, the club announced today.

The 29-year-old has not played for the Merseysiders since April 2001 when he was confronted by an angry Everton fan on the pitch at Arsenal, who accused the African of not trying.

Nyarko, who then vowed never to play for Everton again, joined Monaco on loan and started last season with Paris St Germain, who had an option to sign him permanently.

But cash-strapped PSG were unable to exercise that option, leaving Nyarko frustrated – and he quit the club.

"Alex Nyarko is expected to report back with other members of our first team squad on July 3," said an Everton spokesman.

"After two years away from Goodison Park his loan spell ends at the end of the month when he will revert back to being an Everton player."
