Former Public Relations Officer of Accra Great Olympics, Saint Osei, has urged football authorities to urgently address the issue of match-fixing in the Ghana Premier League.

His call comes in the wake of the club's relegation from the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League, where they finished in 16th place with 44 points.

Osei expressed his concerns in an interview with Peace FM, monitored by Footballghana.com, stating that the final day of the season saw 17 clubs seemingly united against Accra Great Olympics. He pointed to video evidence of certain incidents on the final day.

"Steps have been taken in that direction, especially hooliganism, but as to the match-fixing, you know that it is from Adam. That is what I want authorities to make a conscious effort in finding an antidote to, which I think can be done," he said.

"Because I think much attention has not been given to that area because it is very crucial and critical. Somebody will work hard, and at the last minute, some matches will be played, and referees will be giving some penalties.

"It is so glaring, it is very disheartening, it is so painful. A conscious effort to get stakeholders on board is needed because, at the end of the day, it is the football that we are saving; it is the football that we want to grow. So, things that will rear their ugly head that will make our football go down, we must immediately silence it," he said.
