Ex-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has charged Medeama to outclass Al Shendi in Sunday's crucial CAF Confederation Cup first leg tie.

The 55-year-old, who currently manages Sudanese side Khartoum SC, was at the team's first training session in the North-East African country on Thursday night to motivate the players.

The former Ghanaian trainer, who sat through out the two-hour session, was left impressed with the players attitude and work ethics.

And he believes the Ghanaian will qualify at the expense of the Sudanese side.

"I have been impressed with how you (players) have responded to the humid weather condition and I have no doubt in my mind you will make our nation proud," he told the players amid cheers

"Al Shendi is a good side but I believe you have what it takes to outclass them.

"They are physically strong and athletic but lack the skills to outdo opponent.

"The first 20 minutes will be crucial but you have to stand firm and hold your verve.

"Lets go out there and make our nation proud. You should be part of history. You must believe and work towards achieving your set goals for this great club."

The two-time FA Cup champions are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to progress to the group stage of Africa second-rated inter-club competition.

The West African progressed to this stage after beating Libyan side Al Ittihad 2-1 on aggregate.
