Ex Kotoko star Michael Asante dead

Michael Asante, a former player of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has died, according to family sources.

The former midfielder, who became popular during his days with Accra Great Olympics, died Wednesday around 1pm.

Family sources told Starr Sports that Asante has been seriously ill for some time now. His illness became serious on Tuesday and was rushed to the Hospital but could not make it.

He was part of Coach Herbert Addo's squad which gave life to Kotoko in the early 2000's.

Asante occasionally played for the senior national team, Black Stars during the peak of his career.
