Ex-Ghana striker Tony Yeboah Ex-Ghana striker Tony Yeboah claims the decision of some referees to demand bribes from club officials is killing competition in the local game.
The former Frankfurt and Leeds United forward is calling for a massive clean-up in the referees' controlling body to halt the act.
Yeboah who owns a third-tier side in the Ashanti Region says the behaviour of some referees is helping kill the game.
"There's no transparency and no checks.
We have gradually developed a filthy culture in Ghana football where home teams must necessarily win through fair or foul means.
Visiting teams are intimidated and savaged on a regualr basis as the authorities behave as though all is well," Yeboah said on a local radio station.
