The Ghana Football Association's (GFA) attention has been drawn to a rumour by a media outfit that some players of the Black Stars gambled during the just-ended Africa Cup of Nations.

We wish to state categorically that no Black Stars player gambled during the tournament and the report has no basis in fact.

It is worth noting that nearly forty Ghanaian journalists spent most of their day in the Black Stars camp in Ngouni yet did not see or report on any such act.

Since the Black Stars returned from the tournament, several false reports have been made in the media about why the team failed to win the trophy.

We strongly urge the media to desist from spreading unsubstantiated rumours which could have far-reaching consequences.

We call on the general public to ignore all such stories as we remain focused and committed to finding the reasons why the team failed to win the Nations Cup trophy.

A media conference with Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi, the Ghana FA management team as well as coach Goran Stevanovic will take place at the GFA's headquarters in Accra on Wednesday to address some of these issues.

The GFA will not be making any further comment until the media conference.
