Communications Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Opare Addo, has said the Ghana FA’s decision to fine the club has come as a surprise to the team and their management.

The GFA Disciplinary Committee has fined the club a total of GHS12,000 after they were found guilty of misconduct after their fans threw water bottles, stones, and other objects at match officials after their Ghana Premier League match against Wa All Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on April 3, 2016.

Reacting to the ruling, Mr Addo told Class Sports management was yet to meet over the decision and decide the best way forward.

“Club officials will meet today Friday [May 6] and elaborate on the best way forward, but we still have until Tuesday to appeal this decision, so, when we meet and take a decision, we will let the world know about it. What I do know is that it has been handed over to our lawyers and most certainly there will be an action,” he said.

“We were all expecting a ruling but the length of time and all that was involved was not expected, but these are legal issues and I must say everybody is surprised.”

In addition to the fine, Hearts will play their next three home matches behind closed doors.
