FIFA health team to inspect Nigerian facilties

LAGOS (Negiria) 1 Nov '98 FIFA officials are expected in Nigeria today to inspect facilities for next year's world youth cup, a spokesman for the Nigerian tournament organisers said on Sunday. "The FIFA medical team will begin the inspection on Tuesday," Paul Bassey, press officer for "Nigeria '99", said. He said the FIFA team would inspect stadiums' clinics, referral hospitals and general cleanliness in the eight Nigerian cities where the games would be played. In 1995, FIFA cancelled Nigeria's hosting of the tournament at the last minute, citing health and security reasons. Qatar later hosted the event.
