FIFA has described Ghana's thrilling 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as 'crazy.'

The football governing body took to its official page to express its astonishment at the outcome of the match, which saw Otto Addo's side secure a hard-fought win in Kumasi.

"This #FIFAWorldCup qualifying match was crazy!" FIFA wrote, accompanied by a popcorn and an exploding head emoji, reflecting the excitement and drama that unfolded on the pitch.

Ghana's victory over the Central African Republic marked the team's third win in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers, following a mixed start that saw them secure a 1-0 victory over Madagascar in Kumasi, before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Comoros in Moroni.

On June 6th, Ghana was able to bounce back with a 2-1 victory over Mali, thanks to goals from Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew. The team then faced the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024, in what proved to be a nail-biting encounter.

Jordan Ayew was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored the other goal. However, the Central African Republic refused to give up and scored a late third to set up a tense finale.

Despite the late scare, Ghana was able to hold on and secure a vital three points, which sees them top Group I with nine points after four games.
