Lawyer and ace football commentator, Moses Foh Amoaning, says the threats to ban Ghana by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) says the association is assuming powers it does not have even at the international level.

FIFA had earlier issued a warning to the Government of Ghana to either withdraw its liquidation case against Ghana’s Football Association (GFA) or face suspension.

The Government of Ghana in view of that has taken steps to discontinue the process for the winding up of the Ghana Football Association. The government has also agreed to set up a normalisation committee to see to the day-to-day activities of football in Ghana until the crisis are fully resolved.

However, Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Moses Foh Amoaning said sports is an issue of sovereignty and every country has the right to be in charge of its football activities.

He explained that an international organization only comes in when the country has invited them either through protocols or by other conventions.

According to him, the current GFA saga in terms corruption, criminality and the way forward directly lies within the jurisdiction of the country.

“When it comes to sports, football in particular, the control of the game of football is done nationally by the country. If the association is part of any international body, it is because the country allowed it. So the international controlling body cannot always dictate how football affairs should run”, he stated.
