Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has assured Godfred Donsah of another chance to prove his worth following an underwhelming performance against Egypt on Sunday.

Playing just behind the main striker, the Bologna man struggled to make an impact on the final matchday fixture of the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, leading to his substitution in the 50th minute.

The 21-year-old was the first to admit his 'bad day' after the game, revealing his hope for another chance to make amends.

“Donsah, we all know him as a really good player but sometimes it happens that you might have a bad day," Appiah told Ghana Web.

"His passes were not that accurate, but for me his performance doesn’t close the chapter for him.

"I believe that he is really good and I will try and give him more chance on the team."

Significantly, the match was Donsah's first for the Black Stars. "Rating myself from 1-10, I'll say five because I wasn't able to do my best," the former Cagliari midfielder said after the game.

"It was a great opportunity given to me but I wasn't able to do my best.” Donsah faces a long wait to straighten his Black Stars career as Ghana do not return to action until March next year when they play Kenya in 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.
