Black Stars goalkeeper trainer, Fatau Dauda, has given a detailed explanation of Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin's stunning save against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

The save was named the UEFA Champions League save of the day, as the Ukrainian goalkeeper used his foot to deny Leroy Sane from scoring in a one-on-one situation.

Breaking down the situation, Fatau Dauda stated that the goalkeeper applied the 'Footsave' principle to pull off the stop.

"The understanding of principles and priorities of 1V1 situations, in this clip, is pure. The technique/skill used for the execution of the 1v1 is 'FOOTSAVE' the former AshantiGold man wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

He further explained what the principle and the priority entail while highlighting what the situation demands from a goalkeeper.

"Principle: Get as close as possible when the ball is in the red zone. Priority: Attack the ball with your foot. The situation demanded the goalkeeper to use the technique/skill “FOOTSAVE”."

Fatau Dauda is known for breaking down goalkeeping situations on his X, where he expresses his sophistication about the position. He is a CAF License B holder and currently serves as the goalkeeper's trainer for the Black Stars.

He took up the role in February 2024 after parting ways with the Sudan national team.
