Asante Kotoko striker Abdul Fatawu Safiu has revealed Coach CK Akonnor played a key role in getting him sign for the Porcupine Warriors as he was inches away from a deal in Denmark.
Safiu who joined Kotoko from Techiman-base Eleven Wonders revealed C K Akonnor was the reason why he abandoned a deal in Denmark to sign for the Porcupine Warriors.
In a exclusive interview with footballmadeinghana.com, the former Portland Timbers striker revealed how the current Asante Kotoko coach played a role in bringing him to the club.
“I was in Denmark, they wanted to give me a contract in January.
“So C K Akonnor called my agent Chibsah and asked him where is Fatawu, he told him I was in Denmark doing trials and the club will sign me I January.
“So C K called me directly and asked me to play for him.
“To be honest, I didn’t want to come because I was in Denmark, why should I come home again.
“But C K is like my Daddy that is why I came and I haven’t regretted,” he added.
Abdul Fatawu Safiu has since established himself as one of the best players in the local league, scoring eight goals in the ongoing Teir 1 League of the NC Special Competition.
