Ghana Karate club Excels In US Tourney

A Ghanaian karate club, Nippon Karate Club, yesterday presented trophies and medals they won at the 24th Annual Mountain State Karate Championships in United States of America recently to Mr Rashid Bawa, Minister of State, in charge of Youth and Sports at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in Accra.

The competition which took place from January 4 to May 15 attracted 43 countries with Ghana and South Africa representing the Africa continent.The Ghanaian team swept as many as 18 trophies and 52 medals comprising: 32 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze.


Mr Rashid Bawa praised the Ghanaian team for their sterling performances. He promised his ministry?s assistance to the Karate-do team and urged them to continue to sell Ghana through the sport.

?Your outstanding performance is an indication of the fact that other lesser disciplines can showcase Ghana if given attention, and I will ensure other lesser disciplines receive the needed attention,? he stated.


Mrs Vivian Ntriwaa Addae, the coach of the team, presented the trophies and medals on behalf of the team to the minister.Present was Mr Joe Aggrey, Deputy Minister of Education,Youth and Sports.
