Ghana’s technical team have already settled on the squad they will be taking to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations according to assistant coach Maxwell Konadu.
The Black Stars will step up preparations in the UAE on January 7 two days before the presentation of the final squad to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Twenty five (25) players will be taken to the pre-tournament camp in Abu Dhabi of which two will be dropped to arrive at the final squad.
The Black Stars are however billed to play an international friendly with Cape Verde on Tuesday.
But Konadu says that exercise will only clarify a few doubts surrounding some players as the coaches already have a fair idea of the personnel they will be taking along to South Africa.
“We have a rough idea of those who will be making it to South Africa even though something can come up during our training sessions, that is the main reason why we have these two players,” Konadu said.
“And this friendly match we are going to play will give us a broader view of the players we want to invite for the main tournament.
“So if we start the training and nothing happens, those we have in mind will go to the Nations Cup, if nothing happens we will have to drop the two players.”
Ghana is drawn in Group B alongside Mali, Niger and Congo DR.
