Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey
Jacob Teye, the father of Thomas Partey believes that his son has the qualities to wear the armband for the Black Stars.
He did however add that the position comes with seniority and will continue to support him till the chance to wear the captain's armband comes.
"I was very happy when my son got the first national team call up," he told Cape Coast radio station Live 107.5 FM.
"I will support my son to become the national team captain if the chance come, sometimes captaincy is about seniority. My son is having the qualities a captain should have."
He added: "Sometimes in football you will have your day and sometimes too you will be flop in a game so when it comes to that I always tell him to be cool."
He also took time to give a word of advice to upcoming footballers.
"My advice to the youth is anybody who wish to be a footballer should train very hard but if you like ladies please you should be a tailor and stop any sports activity."
