Kotoko’s training ground at Adako-Jachie in Kumasi on Wednesday morning was gutted by fire.
It is, however, unclear as to the cause of the fire, but reports indicate that the incidence might have been caused by a burning bush near the pitch.
No human casualty was recorded, but the edifice has lost some facilities including a changing room.
The dry green pitch has been smoldered by the fire.
Fire officers from Fumesua were seen fighting the raging fire as it consumed the green grass the team trains on as well as the nets behind the goal posts.
“We have not been able to discover what caused the fire, but it is likely to be the nature of the weather now. There is high altitude, and all the leaves are dry,” a fire officer said.
“So that might be the cause. The harmattan is up now so we must be careful in all our activities when dealing with electricity or fire,” he added.
The Adako-Jachie training ground is credited to the Dr. K.K. Sarpong administration after the land was secured for the club.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently in Sekondi preparing for the G6 competition.
