The headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier league, First Capital Plus Bank management are planning on terminating the sponsorship deal they signed with the Ghana Football Association according reports in the local media.
The Bank took a bold step of going into a $10m sponsorship deal with the Ghana Football Association in 2014.
But two years down the lane, management is reported to be unhappy with the football association mainly on the the way the league is organized.
According to reports the bank is quitting because of poor branding, constant change of date, low attendance on match days and general low media hype on the domestic league.
An insider of the Bank however told GHANAsoccernet.com that reports gaining steam that they were pulling the plugs on the deal were wild and unsubstantiated.
“The Bank has challenges on the way the league is being organized but to say they want to pull out is way off the mark,” the insider told GHANAsoccernet.com
“I have heard those comments too in the media but those are not the position of the bank at the moment.”
