Five Ghanaians elevated to senior officials in African Armwrestling Federation

Five Ghanaians were elevated to the status of senior officials after the technical seminar of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation.

The officials who included Hussien Akwetteh Addy, one of the most hard working secretary generals of the NSA can now serve on the African board and officiate international matches.

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation in conjunction with the Africa Armwrestling Federation trained the technical and match officials at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Head Referee and Technical Director for Africa Armwrestling Federation, Elsayed Youssif Nasr conducted the 3-day training course for coaches and referees of the newly formed sports body in Ghana which started on Friday and Monday and ended at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation officially began work some few months ago and are affiliated to both continental and world bodies.

Charles Osei Asibey, one of Ghana’s top sports journalists, President of the Association said Ghana is preparing for an international event in Nigeria, and they will select players to form the national team, Golden Arms to represent the nation. He thanked Nassor for showing the coaches and referees some tricks in the sport.

The rapid growth and determination of the association was followed by the working visit by the African federation’s technical director who commended the federation for the fast rate of development of Armwrestling in Ghana.

Mr. Nasr spent last Tuesday with the Golden Arms (National Armwrestling Team), the trainee referees and coaches as well as an interaction with the media before his expected departure.

All trained coaches, also known as Technical Men and referees were presented with certificates including Yours Truly.
